My paintings allow the viewer and artist alike to settle into the Mysterious—the unfolding, the emerging—and simply let things be.
My artwork is like a beloved horse, nudging me in a direction I may not have thought to go. It guides me toward something worth discovering:
a sunset, a bank of clouds, a vast horizon far away, a soothing bowl of relaxed, glorious flowers. Or it may place me before a vibrant, sturdy and stalwart tree.
Each reflects back some previously unknown essence of myself.
It is the self I find in Nature and in quiet moments of listening: the wind rustling through grass, thunder rolling in the distance, the smell of rain in the air, the smooth touch of wet grass. These things speak to me. They settle me into the Mystery of all that I cannot know—
and all that I can.
I thoughtfully engage with painting in much the same way. I make space, pay attention, gather my materials, and allow something unexpected to emerge. Rather than knowing beforehand where a painting should go, I listen for where it wants to take me.
Painting, for me, is an immersion in Trust.
